The facilities were cool, with many salt sculptures and engraved walls, also the room had a beutiful view of the salt flats.
The colchani road and the entrance of the hotel it's a mess, being the entrance to the hotels and the flats I think they should invest in those roads, the hotels in the area seem very profitable and could get organized to make things better,

What was the highlight of Hotel de Sal Cristal Samaña
Truly a tourist trap. Avoid!
It's one of maybe 3 hotels that is within walking distance of the salt flats. The accommodation is, indeed, quite unique - you'll get to check "night at a salt hotel" off your bucket list. Our room included a really great view of the massive expanse of Uyuni. And, there are a few llamas on the premises, just hanging out!
The front desk staff actively scammed us. We booked a Uyuni day tour with them, and after taking a taxi into Uyuni city, we were dropped off at the tour agency - which was closed. We waited but nobody showed up. We called the agency and the hotel and got no response. We had prepaid the hotel for the trip, and they have not answered repeated emails asking for a refund. Another thing - there was a big storm which caused a power outage for several hours. Our room was pitch black, and because we were on the second floor, we also had no running water from about 8pm to 11pm. I don't blame the hotel for the storm, but the staff told us that the power was out for the whole town - however, we could see that lights were on in other hotels, so I think there's something faulty about the wiring of this particular place. Food is quite bad. It was probably the worst meal we had in all of Bolivia. You're a captive audience, so they have no reason to improve. Drinking water costs money - much cheaper hostels/inns give you free drinking water.

Not enough staff, lousy service. We started early in the morning and ask for a lunch package, you are in the desert, no drink (water) was provided. The impression was they have a pure commercial interest. We will not go there again.

Cold but worth the novelty
Staff very attentive, reasonable breakfast, fun games room and interesting novelty carvings and salt statues abound. View of the salar from our room!
No heating throughout the hotel (room only) construction work and noise until 10pm, towels not very clean.
